Tool Burglary (2015/09/01)

08/31/15, 1600 block of 11th, sometime over the weekend a construction trailer was broken into and tools were stolen. Some of the tools taken were:
 
- x2 clipped head framing guns
- x1 full head framing gun
- x1 Dewalt chop saw
- x1 quarter inch crown stapler
- x2 Senco roofing guns
- x1 Senco finish gun
- x1 coil framing gun
- x1 Nikon Transit builder`s laser level
- x1 Bosch circular saw
- x1 seven sixteenths crown stapler
- x1 Milwaukee router (red case)
- x1 half HP router
- x1 Qt tube caulking gun
- x3 50 foot extension cords

Meadow Drive fire (2015/09/01)

On April 19th, 2014 at 4:40 A.M. the Helena Fire Department and Helena Police Department responded to 101 Meadow Drive for a report of a structure fire.  After further investigation into the fire by the Helena Interagency Fire Investigation Team, it was determined that the fire was started intentionally to cover up a burglary at the residence.  At the time the fire was started the home owners of the property were out of town.

Fairgrounds Burglary, July 24, 2015 (2015/09/01)

On Friday July 24th, 2015 at about 10:45 P.M. the main indoor arena at the Fairgrounds was locked and shut down for the night securing all the booths and exhibits in that area.  After the doors were locked from the outside and all employees left the building a male, who had hidden somewhere in the building, emerged and began to look through some of the booths in the arena.  One of the booths contained a large amount of custom made knives and jewelry.  The description of some of the more identifiable knives and jewelry is as follows:

Lucky Lil's robbery (2015/01/30)

This has previously been reported but I thought I would send it out again. Hopefully someone has more information concerning the suspect.

On 01/16/15 at approximately 0115 hrs., an unidentified male entered Lucky Lil’s Casino at 1600 11th... Avenue. The male threatened the employees with a handgun and left with money from the establishment. The male is described as 5’04” to 5’08” inches tall with a stocky build. The male was wearing a stocking mask, camouflage pants, a dark hooded jacket which was covered by a lighter color t-shirt.

Our investigation has also shown that this male was outside of another business in the 1800 block of Prospect on 01/15/15 at approximately 2100 hrs. The male was wearing the same clothing as in this incident. I have attached additional photographs of this male.

Kmart television theft (2015/01/19)

On 01/19/15, at approximately 1800 hrs., an unidentified male and female entered Kmart (1700 Cedar).  While in the store, the male took a 50 inch RCA flat screen television which was loaded on a cart.  The male then exited the store and got in to a vehicle driven by the female.  Attached are photographs of the male and female.

Lucky Lil's robbery (2015/01/16)

On 01/16/15 at approximately 0115 hrs., an unidentified male entered Lucky Lil’s Casino at 1600 11th Avenue.  The male threatened the employees with a handgun and left with money from the establishment.  The male is described as 5’04” to 5’08” inches tall with a stocky build.  The male was wearing a stocking mask, camoflauge pants, a dark hooded jacket which was covered by a lighter color t-shirt.

11/08/14  A theft was reported to an officer on October 30 from a vehicle while parked in the 1500 blk of Wilder Avenue.  The victim reported missing a backpack and school supplies.

11/1/14 @ 4:00pm  An officer recovered a found key and key fob from a citizen who reported finding it on one of the lower trails on Mount Helena.  The key indicates it belongs to a Hyundai Elantra.  The key can be claimed by contacting the police department evidence at 447-8468.

10/24/14 at 1600 hours-An Officer was dispatched to the 1100 block of Townsend Ave for a report of a burglary.  The Officer met with the owners and it appeared an unknown suspect made entry in the house and possibly took some items from the house.  There is no suspect information at this time.  The case has been forwarded to our Criminal Investigation Division for further investigation.

10/30/14 at 1451 hours-An Officer took a report of vandalism to their vehicle which was parked in the 2800 block of National Ave.  The complainant reported someone had thrown an egg at their vehicle.  No suspects at this time.

1446 hours-321 Fuller-Theft and Trespass to Motor Vehicle-Complainant reported that someone had entered his vehicle while it was parked at Valley Bank and he was in the Rialto.   The suspect took cash and .45 Caliber handgun.

1157 hours-1500 block of Walnut-Theft and Trespass to a Motor vehicle-Caller reported that her vehicle had been entered and personal items stolen

1313 hours-2750 Prospect-Walmart-Theft-Caller reported the theft of a wallet.

10/24 06:31 2811 National.  Victim reported seeing a male wearing a blue hoodie and blue jeans going through his vehicle.  The victim confronted the suspect and yelled at him.  The suspect fled on foot from the area.  The victim identified that items were stolen from the vehicle.

10/05 18:20 100 block of  Oakwood.  The victim reported that sometime during the night someone damaged a fence on their property.

10/17 10:00 3000 block of Villard.  Victim reported that someone stole medication from her.

10/14 17:15 1900 block of Lockey.  Victim reported someone stealing items from her residence.

 10/18/14 10:32 600 block of Davis St.  The victim reported that sometime during the night someone threw a brick into the windshield.  The sides of the vehicle were also scratched multiple times.  This case is under investigation.

10/17/14 17:21 10 W 15th St.  Victim reported to officer that someone was trying scam customers out of funds posing as an IRS agent.   Officer conducted an investigation and determined that the incident was not legitimate.  Case has been forwarded to the HPD capitol police detail for further investigation.

10/19/14 01:51 Garrison and Hollins. Victim reported being assaulted by an unidentified male in an alley.  This case is under investigation.

10/17/14 00:50 Officer responded to 1100 block of Cannon Street to a criminal mischief to a vehicle call.  The victim reported that someone had slashed the tires on his pickup. 

10/17/14 14:14 Victim reported that sometime during the night someone trespassed into his vehicle in the 900 block of N Rodney.  The victim indicated the vehicle was left unlocked.  The suspect stole a Serius XM radio unit and a medium sized first aid kit from the vehicle. 

10/16/14 18:00 700 block of N Washington.  Victim reported that someone stole the license plate from his trailer during the night. 

10/16/14 18:00 Officer responded to the 400 block of N Last Chance Gulch to a report of a burglary.  The victim indicated he left for work the previous day and left his apartment unlocked.  He returned home and left the apartment unlocked during the night.  The following morning he realized items in his apartment were missing.

10/17/14 09:37 An employee of Walmart reported that he parked his bicycle at the store and secured it there.  When he finished work he found that parts were removed from the bike without  his permission.

10/14/14 @ 8:07am  An officer investigated a theft from a motor vehicle in the 1200 blk of Peosta Avenue.  The victim reported several thousand dollars worth of fly fishing equipment was stolen from his vehicle sometime overnight.

10/13/14 @ 11:49am  An officer spoke with a victim concerning his vehicle being stolen on October 12th.  The vehicle was eventually located parked at a convenience store at Euclid and Henderson Street.  The owner of the vehicle reported the wheels and tires had been removed and switched with others while the vehicle was missing, in addition to some other damage to and theft from the vehicle.  Suspects in the theft may have been several males in their early 30`s, driving a mid-to-late 80`s blue Ford pickup.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the police department.


10/14/14 @ 8:06 am  An officer investigated a theft from motor vehicles in the 1000 blk of 11th Avenue.  The owner of the vehicle reported having several tools and a pair of sunglasses stolen from parked vehicles sometime overnight.

10/14/14 @ 5:18pm  An officer investigated a criminal mischief to property in the 1600 blk of 6th Avenue.  The complainant reported damage to a canopy in his yard valued at about $80.00.

10/14/14 @ 8:31pm Officers were called to the 1000 blk of Butte Avenue concerning a disturbance.  While in the area, the 911 center received a report of another disturbance a couple blocks away.  When officers arrived, they located two males running from the area.  It was later determined the owner of a vehicle was chasing a male he had discovered attempting to steal items from his car.  When officers attempted to stop the male suspect, he fled and was stopped by the citizen.  Joel Robert Milsten (24 yrs of age, Helena) was eventually arrested and charged with Criminal Trespass to Property, 2 counts of Criminal Trespass to a Motor Vehicle, Theft, Obstructing a Peace Officer (for fleeing from the officer) and Criminal Mischief.  Milsten was booked at the detention center.  There was other property recovered in this case which was not associated with either of two vehicles Milsten was suspected in entering.  Anyone missing property from their vehicle from last night (Tuesday evening), please contact the police department criminal investigations division at 447-8474.

10/14/14 @ 12:00pm  Officers investigated a theft from a motor vehicle in the 1200 blk of Bozeman Avenue.  The business reported missing several small items from a work truck in the yard.

On October 5th at 17:17 hours an HPD Officer was dispatched to 401 Euclid (Holiday Gas Station) on the report of an assault. Suspect left the area in in a silver passenger car. If you have any information about this crime please contact the Helena Police Department.

On October 8th, 2014 at 11:59 hours an HPD Officer was advised of a theft from a vehicle in the area of Helena High- Boulder and Cooke. The report stated the vehicle was parked at approximately 11:00 hours on the 7th of October when they returned to the vehicle on October 7th around 14:20 items had been removed. On October 8th, 2014 at 21:00 hours an HPD Officer was dispatched to 300 block of Ewing on the report of damage to Halloween decorations. If you have any information about this crime please contact the Helena Police Department.

100414 @ 12:07pm  An officer responded to White Knight Toys at 920 Lyndale concerning a window to the business that appeared to have been shot, possibly with a BB or pellet gun.


100514 @ 7:07am  Officers were called to the area of Leslie and Henderson concerning a suspicious vehicle.  It was later determined the vehicle had been stolen from a residence on Poplar Street during the night.  Officers believe the vehicle was also involved in damage to several mailboxes in the Sunhaven subdivision which were also reported Sunday morning.  The vehicle was a grey 1989 Toyota Camry.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the police department.


100514 @ 9:00pm.  An officer met with a victim who reported his wallet was stolen while gambling at the casino in the Town Pump on Enterprise Drive.

09/23/14, 1517 Dodge, Lewis and Clark Brewery, complainant called to report a theft of their open sign by a male described as white, short dark hair, mid to late 20`s, approx 5`8", about 220 lbs wearing camouflage shorts, and a blue t-shirt.

09/25/14, 611 N. Montana, Safeway, complainant reported theft of gasoline. Suspect was driving a blue Chrysler Sebring with a black convertible top. The female is described as being in her late 40`s to 50`s, 200 lbs, about 5`6" tall, and had shoulder length blond hair. Please call if you know someone fitting this description.

09/23/14, 100 block of Memorial Park Dr, complainant reported a theft of a gas-pump key card. There is a suspect and the investigation continues.

09/24/14, 1600 block of Wilder, officers responded to a report of trespass and theft. Suspect took 4 studded snow tires.

09/25/14, 2058 Euclid, officers responded to a report of a trespass and theft from a motor vehicle. No suspects.

09/25/14, 2000 block of Billings, complainant reported that approx a week prior someone had stolen his compound bow and also a men`s diamondback mountain bike. No suspects.

1655 hours-1300 block of Wilder-Theft/Trespass to Motor Vehicle-Caller reported a theft of a Playstation 3 from a motor vehicle.   

0718-700 block of Poplar-Criminal Mischief-Caller reported a broken window on their vehicle.

1339 hours-1100 block of Garrison-Criminal Mischief to a Vehicle-Caller report that a mirror had been broken off of their vehicle.
